About

Extract audio from a video

Pull the soundtrack out of any video file and save it as a standalone audio track. Whether you want to save a lecture, a podcast, or a music track, this tool isolates the sound quickly and privately. Your video is never uploaded. The extraction happens entirely on your own device.

How to use Extract Audio

  1. Select the video file you want to extract audio from.
  2. Pick an output format, such as M4A or WebM/Opus.
  3. Click Extract Audio to begin the separation process.
  4. Wait for the browser to process the tracks.
  5. Download the resulting audio file directly to your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which format should I pick?
M4A copies the audio that is already inside the video wherever possible, so it is incredibly fast and loses no quality. WebM with Opus re-encodes the sound, which takes slightly longer but usually produces a highly optimized, smaller file.
Why is MP3 not offered as an option?
Modern web browsers do not provide a native MP3 encoder to web pages. Offering MP3 would mean shipping a custom encoder, which we have chosen not to do to maintain speed and efficiency. M4A is a modern alternative supported everywhere MP3 is.
Will this affect the original video file?
No. The original video file on your device is never modified or deleted. We simply read it, extract the audio data, and create a brand new file for you to download.
Accepted formats: MP4, WEBM, MOV, MKV
